Bible Reading Plan

Updated: Jul 28, 2019

The Word as a way of life

This Bible Reading Plan is designed to feed your spirit so that you will be able to grow in your knowledge of God, get an overall view of the Bible while reading, and be equipped to walk in righteousness in your daily life. Just as you nourish your natural body with different food groups this method is to feed your spirit with a variety and assortment readings from the whole Word of God for complete spiritual nourishment.

When you eat food, you do not think about how the food goes into your body to nourish all the necessary parts or how you combine the food as you eat it. This reading plan has the same principle when you read …just receive – feed your spirit and the Word will go where it needs to nourish your spirit so that it can be healthy and whole and ready for a response when you need it.

When you read the plan, just like our body, the Holy Spirit knows what scripture will be needed specifically by you at the right time and for the right situation. The Holy Spirit is your helper who will help you understand God’s Word and is capable of “doing” God’s work, therefor is able to help you to do God’s Word and plan.

Matthew 5:6 - Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness; for they shall be filled.

Proverbs 4:20-22 – My son, attend to my words; incline your ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are life unto those that find them and health to all their flesh.

How the Reading plan works

There are 12 bookmarks. Place them in your Bible by the first book listed on each bookmark. Example: Bookmark 1 goes in Genesis, bookmark 2 Leviticus, bookmark 3 Joshua …and so on.

Read one chapter from each section. When you finish the books listed on each bookmark return bookmark to first book of that section. NOTE: 12 Sections will not finish at the same time since each section has different number of books.

On each bookmark write down people that you want to pray for; every time you read this section you are praying the Word of God for these people.

Praying in the power of the Holy Spirit with the Word of God is a powerful way to pray for others.

If you cannot finish all 12 sections – place the colored bookmark where you left off and begin there at your next reading. Don’t give up! And don’t start over; just begin where you left off.

This takes about 40 min. per day. If you finish reading sections 1-12 every day you will have read the Bible 4 times in one year.

Bible reading…

…is meant to feed our Spirit and that is why …

This is NOT a Bible Study but rather a Bible Reading Plan. That means, just read the chapters and do not stop to research it. It’s important to know that you do not have to understand what you are reading. Just like when you are eating, you don’t have to know what food groups you’re eating and the nutrition values that are there or how it is assimilated by your body.

This is difficult for most people, but don’t worry, just do it exactly like this and in a month, you will notice that things that you’ve read start to come up in conversations, readings or someone needs to hear exactly what you just read.

When you want to know more don’t get sidetracked. Keep reading and stay on the chapter you are reading and continue the reading plan.

The Holy Spirit will know what scripture and where it is needed to ensure alignment to God’s plan for you.

When you give your spirit everything He needs, then He will decide which part is necessary for your day and your life. When you feed your spirit, you will have what you need for living a life that is led by the Spirit of God.

Romans 6:22 – But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

1 John 4:4 – Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Exodus 15:26 – If though wilt diligently harken to the voice of the LORD thy God and will do that which is right in His sight, and wilt give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon you, which I have brought upon the Egyptians; for I am the LORD that heals you.

1 Thessalonians 2:12-13 – That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you into His kingdom and glory …you received the Word as truth, the Word of God, which effectively works also in you that believe.

If you faithfully read the Word of God, your life will change …guaranteed. After 30 days you will begin to see how the Holy Spirit will draw from your readings as you share with others or you will see things and say to yourself, “I just read that!”

God has given you all of your time if you tithed 10% of your time back to God it would be 2.5 hours, this reading plan is only 40 minutes. When you read God’s Word you are loving God according to the way that He wants to be loved. Our highest form of worship is to understand God’s Word and to walk in obedience to Him. This reading plan helps you to know the Word of God so you can begin to respond according to His Word in every area to meet the challenges and the needs of your life.

Psalm 37:4-5 – Delight thyself also in the LORD; and He shall give thee the desires of your heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.
