How often have you said, “You were just on my mind?” and they responded, “I was really going through something - - - it means so much that you were praying for me!”
Being sensitive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit is very important. You know ...those times when someone comes to your mind and you just can't shake it? As you become more sensitive to respond in prayer in this way you will be amazed at the things the Holy Spirit will lay on your heart to pray for.
We may never know how our intercession can impact a person, family, a prodigal, an ambulance driving by or even national disasters. It may be the difference between life and death, a person coming to know Jesus as Savior, averting terrorist attacks, and how government leaders made decisions for nations.
As the LORD prompts your heart, make a commitment to turn these thoughts into prayers.
A few scriptures that you can use to pray to God:
† For Protection ~ Psalm 91:3-16
† Help them to have a true relationship with Him ~ Daniel 11:32b, Philippians 3:10, Psalm 9:10
† Give them a desire to know His Holy Word ~ Psalm 119:127-130, 159-152
† Surround them with loving and wise friends ~ Psalm 119:63, John 15:13-14
† Give them courage to resist the enemy ~ 2 Corinthians 2:11, James 4:7, Ephesians 6:10
† Know who they are in Christ ~ Ephesians 1:4,7,11-14; Colossians 1:27
Keep a prayer journal for prayer prompts like these and when you see your specific prayers that may only be known between you and God you can rejoice and praise Him for His faithfulness.
“But truly God has listened; He has attended to the voice of my prayer.” Psalm 66:17-19
